David Tanner's Pocket Symphony

This is the first public performance of Pocket Symphony, by orchestra member David Tanner. It was composed in 2011 and recorded the following year by the Moravian Philharmonic, and is available on Navona Records. The title reflects its compact structure. It conforms strictly to the traditional form of a symphony, with the added feature of the opening fanfare being woven into the finale. This is very visual music, with each of the four movements in dramatic contrast to the others. David is currently a performing member of Northumberland Orchestra and Cobourg Concert Band and his many arrangements have been praised for their intelligence and beauty.
