Our vacant choral director position has drawn a number of superb applicants, with a vast array of choral experience, and musical knowledge! We had over a dozen inquiries, and the selection panel of Deirdre Bryant, Marie Narini, Adriana Monti, David Kuhnke and John Kraus has been busy sifting through cover letters, and evaluating applications, and artistic submissions. The list of candidates was narrowed down to 8, with online (Zoom) interviews conducted over the summer. The quality of candidates was so high that the list was only reduced to 5 by the end of August. The final selection will be made only when each of the final 5 candidates have had a chance to interact with the choir as a whole (when and where COVID-19 restrictions make that possible). The Board chose to adopt this approach to get the best fit for the choir, and the best candidate to work with our Music Director.
Until such time that we can arrange for the in-person meetings, we will be scheduling online meetings in the new year that will give the choir and orchestra members the opportunity to meet each of the candidates.
