Welcome to the Northumberland Orchestra and Choir. We look forward to seeing you at our great selection of concerts this coming year.
The 2018-19 season is a special one; with so many different styles of music, I am sure we have something for everyone. We love presenting good music whether it is traditional, classical, jazz or contemporary. The NOC’s 42nd season begins with a bang as Tak Kwan performs the Paganini Violin Concerto in D+ along with Cherubini’s glorious Requiem and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in FATE!.
Along with our favourite, familiar seasonal works, the NOC welcomes 5 solo vocalists to participate in the presentation of Saint-Saens’ Oratorio de Noel (Christmas Oratorio) at two weekend productions.
Our family concert returns in February where audience members who are young and young-at-heart will be treated to an hour long program of music that is sure to have you dancing in your seats.
As winter’s mighty grip releases, ushering in the warmer temperatures and longer days, the NOC welcomes Blues, Jazz and soul singer Molly Johnson to present an evening of jazz standards along with some new tracks from her sure-to-be-nominated 2017 CD release.
Closing out our season, the spotlight will focus on Port Hope native and La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra alumni Susan Min as soloist, performing two Dramatic and Romantic works by Stamitz and Bruch for viola and orchestra. I look forward to sharing these programs with you and meeting you again or for the first time.
